The core principle of the NHS is to deliver free healthcare for all.
We recognise, however, that we are not all the same and that different groups in society will need different things at different times. As the NHS changes, we want to ensure that our services meet the needs of the individuals and communities we serve. Ultimately, we want to create a healthy Stockport, where everyone can experience fair treatment and equal health opportunities.
NHS Stockport Clinical Commissioning Group is pleased to present this Equality Strategy, which will outline our plans over 2012 – 2016 to eliminate discrimination, reduce inequalities, and improve health services for everyone in Stockport.
Over the next four years, we will concentrate on:
- Improved equality data collection to better understand local health needs and to address any inequalities
- Establish a joined-up approach to Complex Care with support mechanisms for carers
- Run targeted health campaigns for groups with particular health issues
- Train staff to commission inclusive services
