What does the Governing Body do?

The Governing body has been delegated by its council of GP members the power to conduct the overall management of  NHS Stockport CCG. They meet every month to conduct their formal business.  The papers and minutes of these meetings are published on this website and are available by clicking here.

The Governing body is mainly made up of GP and clinical representatives who discuss and make decisions about local healthcare.  For membership click here.

Their responsibilities include:

  • promoting the involvement of all GP Practice nominated Members in the work of the CCG
  • engaging with patients, the public and other stakeholders within the local health system
  • developing the vision, values and culture of the CCG and setting strategic direction of the CCG in consultation with the Council of Members
  • identifying areas for improvement to ensure better health, better outcomes and better value for the residents of Stockport
  • continuously increasing the capability, competence and capacity of primary care, and the proportion of health and social care provided by primary and community services
  • utilising the Stockport Joint Strategic Needs Assessment and Health and Wellbeing Strategy to develop plans that address local health inequalities
  • promoting an innovative approach to healthcare in Stockport
