From 1st April 2013, NHS Stockport Clinical Commissioning Group formally took over the responsibility for local health services from Stockport Primary Care Trust (NHS Stockport).
Clinical commissioning involves a group of GP Practices working together to take responsibility for designing and purchasing health care for the local population.
Through clinical commissioning, front line doctors and other clinicians are provided with the budget and power to make decisions about how health services are organised and, how the health budget should be spent.
